I asked a couple of "How do I..." questions on Reddit last night and the answer to both of them was "You don't". Someone suggested that I post them here, recast as suggestions for things to add in future patches, so that's what I'm doing.

I realize this is kind of ill-timed, with a new patch supposedly coming very soon that it's probably too late to influence. But hey, gives you lots of time to work these into a future update :-).

  1. I'd like to be able to redirect newly-built ships to a particular system, MOO-style. As you probably recall, in the original ES, these were called Rally Points and you could do this by CTRL-clicking the system you wanted to send ships from, then the destination system. This feature doesn't seem to be in ES2.
  2. If I accidentally dismiss a notification I wasn't done with yet, it would be really nice to have a way to get it back. For example, suppose that after a battle I want to check the damage breakdown, but I get distracted by my cat and click "Exit" instead of "Advanced". I'd like it if there were a way to get back to the post-ops analysis screen.

And a couple further notes on each:

  1. Some nice possible extensions of this idea, which as far as I know none of the previous MOO or Endless _____ games have done with it: (A) Allow chaining them together. If A has B as a rally point and B has C, newly built ships from A would then go to C via B. (B) Include an easy way to stop using a particular rally point. Say I have six systems all using the same rally point, then I make peace with those whose asses I was previously using those ships to kick. It would be nice to be able to shut down all six routes to that rally point from the destination system, rather than have to turn off all six individually.
  2. This is especially needed for certain diplomatic messages. A lot of times I'll be getting a diplomatic message, then the ambassador is cut off in mid-sentence by some other unrelated messages (no wonder their diplomats always seem to be pissed at me!) and I can't get that screen back, or even if I can, I can't replay the dialogue.

Anyway, just a couple suggestions to further improve an already pretty cool game.

ETA: I've also submitted these (separately) in the Ideas section. Newbie mistake not to do that in the first place, sorry. So I guess if you like these, go to Ideas and vote for them.
