Inept Traders:  -10, -15% Star System Trade Value on Systems

Luxury Ignoramuses:  -5, +25% System Development luxury cost on Empire

UC versions of the above traits don't make any sense to me, except perhaps from a purely story/lore perspective.

Fledgling Traders:  -5, -50% Star System Trade Value on Systems

Expensive Tastes: -5, +100% System Development luxury cost on Empire

If Inept Traders gives you 1 point per -1.5% Star System Trade Value on Systems, then shouldn't Fledgling Traders give 30+ points for hitting you with a massive -50%?

If Luxury Ignoramuses gives you 1 point per +5% System Development luxury cost on Empire, then shouldn't Expensive Tastes give you 25 points for doubling the cost?

Both Fledgling Traders and Expensive Tastes seem overly harsh to me, and I can't see why anyone would ever select them for a custom faction, or why they were even added for that matter.  I guess it just makes more sense to me to have tiered versions of Inept Traders and Luxury Ignoramuses (Inept Traders II, III, etc.), rather than these new versions that are so much detrimental for less value.  Heh, or am I just overthinking this all?

You are correct, the costs weren't well adjusted, this should be fixed in the next patch. These were added as traits for the UC to counter-balance their other advantadges, and per request we also made them available for custom factions.

ah HAH!  The thought process is EXPOSED!  So THAT'S why some of the custom faction traits seem so out of whack!  It's ALL WROOOOOOOOOOOOONG!

Meat's right though; these in particular really baffled me that they were separate traits instead of just new tiers of existing ones, especially with the total asymmetry in cost.
