Hi,

I do not know if it's an oversight or if it's by 'game design', but Nakalim heroes do not have Senators bonuses in their branch.

All other heroes of the playable factions have a specific senator bonus.

Apparently, all affinities of heroes have a senator bonus except the 'Virtual Endless' (see here: ES2 Heroes).

Nakalim hero specific skills:

Level 1

  • Prophetic Power: +5/+10 approuval AND +5%/+10% food on System
  • Overclock Scanners: +3 Vision range on Fleet

Level 2

  • Lucky Windfall: +10% Influence on System
  • Holy Cause: +5% on Evalsion on Fleet/Damage on Fleet/Fleet Health on Fleet/Shield capacity on Fleet
  • Prophetic Probes: +1/+2 Max Probe stock AND +20%/+40% Prob recovery rate  on Exploration ships

Level 3

  • Vision of the Lost: +60% Vision range -60% Dust upkeep on Academy System Orbit

Level 4

  • Prophetic Production: +5% FIDSI per Empire Alliance on System

Examples of other factions heroes Senator bonus:

UE: +0.5% Industry per Hero Level on Empire

Sophons: +5 Approuval on Empire

...

And yes, Nakalim heroes have relics bonus but it's allways System or Fleet bonus, not Empire.

Well you can unlock relic skills on all heroes, so yes, you are better of not using a nakalim hero as a senator.

So for you, Koxsos, it's game design?

The game takes the most qualified senators from the leading political party. It's not like you can choose your senator (unless I missed something).

If you use your nakalim heroes as admirals they are likely going to have less levels than the heroes on systems as the admirals scale with combat whereas governors scale with industry used, which is much more exponential. Even if the governors were bougth later.

Use the market tech, build the academy embassy and hack the academies systems in order to get heroes faster. You have a headstart on everyone else in that regard, so you should be able to get someone for your home system (ideally a UE or primitive Overseer, you can switch them out for something better if you find it).

So in the long run your nakalims won't be senators anyways, since the others will have higher levels.

They have good skills for fleets, the early vision is helpful and also gives your hero EXP (every system discovered by your hero grants a little EXP to it).

I'm not saying they're not supposed to not have a govenor skill. But it works out ok on them, more so than on other factions at least. If you compare them to hissho you have a strong argument that even admiral factions could have or are even supposed to have senator skills.

Except the game doesn't work like that. I can say for a fact that it doesn't care about levels or the order in which they joined your empire when deciding who should be a senator (see screenshots below). I believe senator priority is decided by the order in which the heroes were generated.

(The next section is based on my memory. It should stil be accurate, but I felt it would be a bit dishonest not to mention this.)

I received the riftborn hero [henceforth Pi] at a level of 3 or 4. It was my second hero from academy (so probably turn 20-40) and it was the original leader of my pacifist party. Later, I bought Fasol Staccato [FS], which was at level 1 and had been sitting on the market for some time, and it immediately  replaced Pi as a senator.

For the selection of the senator among the heroes, the number and skill level of the senator bonus is important!

Example 1:

1st hero has one senator skill level 2

2nd hero has two senator skills level 2

The 2nd will be chosen

Example 2:

1st her has one senator skill level 2 and one senator skill level 3

2nd hero has two senator skills level 2

The 1st will be chosen

Example 3:

1st hero has one senator skill and is level 12

2nd hero has one senator skill and is level 10

The 1st will be chosen

Example 3:

1st hero has one senator skill level 3

2nd hero has two senator skills level 2

In this case, I don't know...

In any case, all the new Nakalim heroes will be less interesting to buy or to get by the Academy (whatever the faction played).

Senators are selected based on the total points spent on senator skills. If the same, then higher-level hero will be chosen.

Well heroes are not the most balanced point of the game, but then they are available to all.

Grab good ones when you can, nakalim are pretty decent for fighting without being ridiculous.
