Should Nakalim have that much impact on the Sophons?

It seems a bit excessive that just because a Nakalim player (or 2) are in the game with a Sophon player, that they should have such a dominating impact on the key trait of the Sophons (OmniScience). Having your research bonus cut in half or more on any given Tier 1 or Tier 2 tech seems way out of line.

Shouldn't the Omniscience trait ignore the Forgotten Lore trait? Or somehow calculate it at a reduced impact?

As a side note, I've been noticing weird inconsistencies with how Nakalim are effecting the Sophon's Omniscience trait. I haven't done a lot of testing, but something seems really off.

(Edit: this has been resolved)

And I think Sophon is too disadvantageous when there are a lot of players.

OmniScience doesn't receive a full bonus if only one player develops the skill regardless of the number of players.

I want to get a 50% bonus on one player developing technology When you have a large enough number of players (7 or more).

For reference, see the chart above.

A few tier 1 and tier 2 technologies are not blanketly affected by the Nakalim because the Sophons have a variant that ignores the default technology:

Tier 1: Xenolinguistics

Tier 2: Botanical Scanning, Eukaryotic Sap

Otherwise, having just 1 Nakalim in a game cuts your Omniscience trait in half across all Tier 1 and Tier 2 techs. Having 2 Nakalim cuts it down to 10% unless you are playing 8 or more players. Ofc, this doesn't factor in the other players impact which may actually drop you to no bonus on Planetary Landscaping and Off-World Agribusiness. Plasma Metallurgy, before Nakalim, was always a "guaranteed" 50% bonus because no faction starts with it, and its usually one you research quickly (for Hyperium). Now it takes a hit. The ability for the Sophons to get a research ball rolling is heavily impacted.

I'm not in multiplayer, but as a Sophon, wouldnt you just want to leave the lobby/game if you see a Nakalim queue up? And in single player you just wouldnt want to ever include them. Seems a bit overbearing for one faction to have such a significant impact on another.

Thank you for detailed post. Indeed, I wonder why it wasnt realised earlier, during beta or even during development. I would suggest posting this in Bugs thread (https://www.games2gether.com/amplitude-studios/endless-space-2/forums/114-bug-reports/threads/21380-the-tester-s-guide-to-the-bug-report?page=1).

I think this is a dire need, so they would not ignore it. Bumping a thread.
