There is a cap on Hissho and Vodyani mana. Also, there are bonuses for having these resources just below cap (max-100 for Essence, 85 for Keii).

The problem with this mechanic is that it encourages doing a lot of tedious arithmetic and performing gamey actions such as queuing items that demand them. Also, it puts AI at disadvantage because AI never queues buildings for purpose of saving resources.


Proposed solution:

Store extra mana until the end of each turn. Highlight resource whenever it is above maximum, so players don't waste it due to inattention. This is how it might look like:

The point of the cap for Essence is to encourage players to actually use it and to plan for it. And all Essence actions are 0 Industry actions with inherent overflow into the queue. The game also already highlights capped essence (glowing italic numbers).


The AI's issues with Essence are unrellated to gaming the system (it's intentionally designed so that it's nearly impossible to waste meaningful essence values).

I know what cap is for. I simply suggested a quality of life improvement to spend less time shuffling production queues.

I don't know what whould it change in the grand scheme of things, you expect to reach exactly cap value, and then sulprus to spend on the next turn? You still have to spend it regularly, or why even bother if you lose the excess.

No, you are supposed to spend everything this turn. If you don't, surplus is gone.
