The latest feature of ES2's 'final patch' being -turns are now stuck on pending until battle reports are manually dismissed-
is not that great and people are endlessly confused through the endless pending turn with little to no hint for a returning players post patch.

It's been 5 months and people are still not quite "getting it" and coming up with new and creative ways to repost the same 'issue which actually is a feature', but then, most agree it is an issue, therefore reposting it as such and it is turning into an endless menace!

Personally I really dislike the feature and see it as a major hinderance to the fluidity of the game both in singleplayer and multiplayer.

Thus I beseech you fellow players, let our voices be read in a way of a poll.

Should this feature be kept or removed?

To explain the options further:

  1. No - Keep the 'feature'
Nothing changes and you will still have to manually dismiss all battle reports prior to ending a turn
  2. Yes - Remove the 'feature'
Suggests that there should be a 'rollback' of this particular behavior to a previous patch in which it did not matter.
OR at least make the feature bearable by forcing the combat window popup on end turn press, as it is with all other notifications that suppress end turn (like forced truce, which afaik does not work for forever now)

Question shouldn't be asked, if it should be kept or reverted. It was made on purpose to prevent real turn pending bugs. But it should be implemented properly, with screen pop-up upon pressing end turn, like any other mandatory screen already does.

It's baffling how it came to this, it was obvious to me from the start users will be confused, just from reading changelog.

While I agree with your point subultris,
the force truce being ignored via end turn serves as an example on why that does not seem to by achievable or else it would have been fixed forever ago.

But at the very least, I made adjustment to the second option.
edit:

Afaik the only "real turn pending bug" it prevents is the one in which it takes 5 minutes to resolve combat on the host machine past turn timer and people bail prior to it.

Why was it implemented in the first place? Why do I have to manually close the post-combat window in order to advance to the next turn?

As long as I understood, it fixed one or even more sources of the pending turn bug. As long as you close the battle reports...

I agree with Sublustris. This particular fix for the bug should have been a hotfix while a better solution is being worked on that, at the very least, forces these combat notifications to pop up when trying to end the turn.

So this is why I was never bothered by it? I always close all my reports/pop ups before hitting end turn. I always thought I was just lucky not to get it...

I suggest something better: add an auto-dismiss feature. The current auto-minimize is not good enough. People either ignore the minimized entries (leading to the current mess) or get into the habit of spam clicking away everthing unimportant like a trained monkey. Both these paths are bad.

The problem isn't that the minimized window holds up the turn. The problem is that we can't tell from all the noise the game won't let us fully filter. The good news is fixing this would not require a rollback patch, but merely an additional flag for each notification so players can chose what they want to auto-dismiss (similar to the current, auto-minimize flag).

At least for geman community members I did add a hint to point out the common "fix" this case to game start loading screen ("Tip: ...") within my german language mod.
