Is it intended behavior that other empires can assimilate minor factions the Voydani have brainwashed? It's one thing when I see an invasion fleet, that can be countered. But I didn't have any warning before the rug got pulled out from under me. There should at least be a notice that someone is getting close, and maybe some way to counter it.

After brainwashing you need to spend a last influence action "Raze System" - that will prevent anyone else from assimilating them and grant you the bonus forever.

what bonus we talking about here?

each minor faction has a bonus trait that you get when you assimilate them (by influence or force).

They are found bellow their inclinaison (warmonger/pacifist)

for instance the hissho give 20% damage to weapon modules on ships

Nice! I am just playing as Voydani and did not realize that Raze will let me keep it. Thanks for this info! :]

ok after you raze a minor faction, where do you go to see what traits from them you accrued?

From Empire Management screen. It shows all the traits and where they came from.

So was I ... I discovered the button was there by mistake, because I had another player take them over in a previous game. This should be more clear especially when you play another faction first before playing Vodyani you expect it to work in a certain way, when in fact it does not.
