I've accumulated a few questions that I'd appreciate your help with.

1) Is there a hotkey for cycling through inactive units?

2) What causes your sphere of influence to grow? Does it grow at certain intervals of Empire Influence?

3) Can I only repair my ships using the "insta-repair with Dust" option, and does it cost the same whether the ships are at home or far away?

4) A few buildings, such as the Inter-Species HR, gives a bonus to something represented by a square with four colors. The icon looks like the Political Compass. What does it mean?

5) What are the consequences of leeching (as the Vodyani), aside from gaining Essence? What kind of detrimental effect do I inflict on my victim?

6) Are there any negative consequences of retreating from combat? Morale damage, XP loss, or some such?

7) In this great Vodyani tutorial, PANCZASU reached a population of 3 by turn 13. I didn't really catch how that happened though, and didn't see him using Holy Proliferation. Did the population really grow that fast through food alone, as the Vodyani (who have -50% population growth)?

You drain population. And if done to minor faction your relationship with them degrades faster.

No, not currently as far as I know.
