Battle - Fleets and Flotillas - I am lost :)

I must be missing something, but I got no clue what.

If I have two fleets on the system and attack, only the fleet that I use appears on battle screeen (I was expecting the other fleet to "merge" in, at least that was what I understood from the Release Notes 2.0).
Q1: Do i always have to first merge my attacking fleets before engaging?

On the battle screen, I cannot move my ships to any other flotilla. My ships are stuck on flotilla 2

Q2: Is there a requirement before I can use the other flotillas? (e.g. number of ships) (i only got hero+2 ships atm)

(I see minimum 1 CP on lane 2, and i got 2 CP on my fleet, but no indications of CP for lanes 1 and 3)

Q3: Are we stuck on flotilla 2 always as the default?
(That will be a bit bad. e.g I have my ships set for long range, and i will not be able to use cards like Barrage Fire, since flotilla 2 is locked at medium range on that card, only flotilla 1 and 3 are on long range)

Thanks for the help,

PA

This is the perfect example, I want to use this card:

This is great for my gameplay and strategy, but all my ships are locked on lane 2 (short-range) and my ships are all long-range, but the card has 2 other lanes.

All i want is to make use of lane 1, i dont even need to make more flotillas, just to pick the correct lane for my fleet.

Is this possible? or are the fleets looked on lane 2?

What does "CP" mean?

I'm guessing it's Command Point value of ships killed in the enemy fleet. Kill a scout, you don't get much Dust. Kill a carrier and you get a lot.

This is one of those things where if you play the game enough, you internalize the acronyms. But it will be very confusing to a new player.

Yes, CP is Command Points.

When i am on the lanes, i can see mid lane saying "min 1CP" but if i try to drag a ship to the other lanes it doesn't allow me (i finally found where you can drag the ships, it is the small icons you see on advanced mode).

What i don't know, is if this restrictions of being forced to use middle lane is a preview only (they haven't implemented the rest) which is fine then, or a game feature that will continue to release (which makes several cards useless until you are able to use the other lanes). I guess the work around once you unlock other lanes is too move all ship the the real lane you want. Haven't found a way to unlock the other lanes yet.

So nobody has an answer on this?  I was also trying to figure out how to get my ships to use different flottila lanes.  I had a fleet of 4 ships, and could not figure out how to get any of them out of lane 2.  Frustrating.

As far as I know (I'm not a game dev in the studio :))

  • CP = Command Point =
  • Each ships "use"  a certain amount of CP, for example a small use 1, a medium 3 and a large costs 6 CP
  • According to your Military tech, you have a maximum CP per fleet, it's 4 at the begining except for cravers with their faction traits "Big fleet II", which give them +2 CP (so 6 CP from start).
  • When a Fleet reach 5 CP, you unlocked the top lane and the capabilities to have 2 flotillas.
  • When a Fleet reach 10 CP, you unlocked the bottom lane, and the capabilities to have 3 flotillas.

To increase you maximum CP, you can research military tech like "Coordinated Command"

Ah ok, so you have to have 5+ CP in fleet to begin using the other flotilla lanes.  Thanks much for the info.

Thank you DarkHerumor. That makes sense.

I couldn't find the mechanism that was unlocking the flotillas.
