Hi,

Ever since last few patches, I have been having trouble with my vodyani planets starving - especially at the beginning of the game. I understand that there was bug involved, something about vodyani population growth permanently increasing food consumption , but I think it was fixed already.

It bothers me that I can't really use holy proliferation on the tchinomy system, since it usually leads to new pop starving next turn. I played around with high happiness and managed to avoid it, or moving starting ark to more favourable system if there is one nearby.

During these tests, I notice that there is massive food production debuff in place and I found no explanation what causes it.

It is called "gargantuan population" and you can see its effect below:

As you can see from high turn counters, I like play slow and endless matches. Maybe it is related, but what do I know.

"gargantuan population" is a population trait (the Vodyani have it) you can see it in the custom faction creation screen.

If I recall correctly it gives +5 Industry, Science and dust per pop Plus a -50% Food Production Debuff (This might have changed recently so do double check it)

The Vodyani are supposed to have a very small amount of food production,

The gargantuan population debuff is how that is achieved.
