What are"Ship Improvements Star System Improvements"?

In the first Vaulters quest you can choose to build Defensive or Ship Improvments. What is a Ship Improvement? Are there offensive star system improvments? Aren't they just military improvements? Whats the difference and how to I know which improvmente with this red symbole is defensive or ship improvement?

By saying ship improving star system improvements they mean the ones that give extra starting XP to your ships.

So just the one improvement? Then they should call it "military improvement" == every thing with the red symbol.

Technically there are more of those ship XP improvements further up the tree, but yes, you're right.
