I still dont fully understand how to start earning additional heroes.  My friend and I are in a MP game with 4 Ai and around turn 60 we still didnt get a new hero.  I believe an Ai discovered the acedemy is there anything else we need to do? if the acedemy is discovered is there a point in building the embassy?

Hello messi. If you pay attention, i think there is somewhere in one of those tabs you click... Maybe the fleet tab, or... i dont really know, i have to check it right now... But there is somewhere in one of those tabs located close to the technology screen (but not there) some icons about "points" needed to unlock the next hero.

There are 3 ways to unlock new heroes (i believe) : One, trough points, that you can get those points by achieving certains things over and over (like exploring curiosities help you achieve a seeker hero, fighting other empires gives you points to get militarist hero... and so on) And that way you will be able to get enough points to get a hero of your choice.

Trough points, you can see that famous screen where you can select 3 heroes. The race you get whit is random ( i think) but the type of heroes (conselour, guardian... seeker) depends on your playstile tendency. depending on what you most oftenly do in your empire, like sending scouts to research curiosities... fighting other empires, the higher is the chance you will meet a guardian hero, made for war. And so on. You need to find that screen and see by yourself what actions influence what hero type.

Also, building the embassy is, definitly ,necessary. if you are turn 60 and din't found any hero yet, you will probabilly find it soon. if you build the embassy, it also says you unlock a new hero (im not sure what class it is) and it decreases the points necessary to unlock new heroes, so you might see that screen of finding 3 heroes to choose from more often.

The next way to get new heroes, is trough buying them in the market. if you research Black Markets or something research in the Economy and Trade section (the upgrade of the normal market to buy resources and luxuries) you will be able to buy new heroes. They cost alot, right, they come at low level, right... But if you have a ton of spare dust to spend (Which is rare because... there are *few* ways to increase dust income and there are *many* ways to decrease it... So the best way to increase your dust income is to find a good minor faction trait that increases your dust, play riftborn... or build trading companies pretty early. Also colonizing planets filled whit dust can help you whit that, but trust me: the methods to create dust are pretty few. you might find it hard to buy new heroes when you instead could buyout xeno-infraestructure buildings (the one of +10 industry per fertile and temperate one) and help you to develop your colonies faster.

Just saying a few tips here. Hope it helps

Ah, since you are a newcomer, if you ever find yourself whit very, very,  VERY low dust income, i'd recommend you forging peeacefull interactions whit minor factions, or, in case you assimilated one recently, i'd recommend you to sell its ships, because it can give you some manpower and... help you whit the dust upkeep. but that is only in extreme cases, you know.

Also, i'd recommend you to look carefully before building embassy. It is a good upgrade, but depending on the current situation your empire is... it is better to build another structure or some kind of ship. Always look carefully in the situation and see what upgrade your empire (or systems) need most.

Never forget that creating a clear plan to defeat/ Counter attack your opponents is always a good strategy that can come in handy in times of great conflict and War :)
