Hi,

I finally managed to locate the Home System of the Umbral Choir faction I'm at war with. But now there is no option to siege or invade that system since it's not a star node.

Is there any way to destroy/purge that system? How can I eliminate that faction otherwise?

Note: I don't have Supremacy activated so I could't try oblitorators yet.

you should be able to invade.

Obliterators won't work because UC systen is on special node.

I just realised that the AI probably moved its Home System the same instant it was detected. The game didn't notify me about that - or I missed the message. So I was trying to siege an empty node.

I guess I have to track that system down again ...

Yes AI moves UC system once detected. IIRC there's only a notification when yo found it, not when it moves. If you have detection lvl 3 they cannot hide, so if you don't see them they're not there.

In my experience, the best way to hunt down the UC system is to have ships with engines, cloaking and level 3 anti-cloaking specifically for the purpose of moving around the galaxy and parking at special nodes. Once you find the system, they'll move it and be immediately found by one of your scout ships, they can't move again right away so they're trapped.

This is close to what I'm doing. I build explorers with: 1 cloaking, 1 detection and 1 engine, and park them over special nodes I think UC can migrate to.

After firs migration they cannot move for some turns due to having to hack to put a new beacon (they lost every beacon when moving), and if they move without witing for the beacon to be completely charged, they'll have very strong penalties to their economy giving you time to replace your detectors.

Thank you for your help. It took longer than expected but I managed to conquer the system in the end.

I don't think they lose every beacon when moving. In my game the AI managed to move their home system again only one turn after the last relocation. But of cource at some point they will have to place (and charge) new transmitters. So if you keep hunting them, they should finally run out of immediate escape points.

I also guess, they can't move once the ground battle started.

When you migrate all other beacons are destroyed. what may happened is that they 1 turn hacked another node, migrated and dealt with the pop and improvement loss

As lo_fabre says they do loose all other beacons when they move. But i can tell ya AI doesn't hesitate to migrate with not charged beacon.

Probably an easy question, but does the UC ever get level 2 cloaking on their systems? I am almost certain in one of my games they must have it as I have level 1 detection on all my fleets and still cant find any sanctuairies or their home system. I know its here since they hack me every other turn and I can see their probes the scouts have been launching.

UC gets 2/3 lvl cloaking on the home system when upgrades the lvl of the system. As for sanctuaries they get more cloaked by having multiple planets in the system as sanctuaries. Provided you got the tech for lvl 2/3 cloack.

Good to know. Thanks for the timely response. Cheers!
