If you are playing in coop, and made a route through the system of your buddy, that traced you back before you moved further, he can then allow you to proceed with your hack.

Although description suggests there might be higher meta game, like you are trying to hide that you have defensive programs, but that is already evident from the fact that enemy can see your trace.
