Good Evening ! what is this module used for ? my guess is that it's a shield for squadrons. Please, explain me the difference between the two values (550 and 30 ).

550 in this case is the shield value. The other number is the defense that serves as dmg reduction against energy weapons. The module enhances your whole fleet if you have it on a ship.

Not a whole fleet, but a flotilla it is in. And that shield acts like separate shield instance around your flotilla, basically.

Not sure if you are trying to argue, EDI, but dustwhit is correct. In Endless Space 2 flotilla is your group of ships in one lane. Just hulls themselves, not squadrons.

It doesn't affect squadrons. It creates additional shield around flotilla of the ship, that has it equipped.

For the grace of Auriga ! then, it is a great support module, right ? say, I have 2 ships with this module in separated flotillas, then are those ships providing defense to their companions ? basically, they are cloning and adding the defense provided by the support module to the defense of the other ships, correct ?

I think I understand now: Because this is a support module it adds an extra layer of protection besides the ordinary hyperium shield. That is, if this module was a defense one, it would be better to add the hyperium shield instead of it.

If you have flottilas with lots of small hulls and a support ship with such a flottila shield its probably worth the most. Though it doesn't hurt to make bigger ships more sturdy too.
