Oh my, this one was a a touch of cancer given the huge galaxy requirement.

https://youtu.be/bHwGTDmePHY

Observe the technique utilized

1. create a big bad influence sphere, get potent religious party

2. colonize all planets in it simultaneously and tag them in their names to distinguish them

3. declare war on AI

4. immidiately get truce with AI by feeding it said planets above

5. wait 5 turns for cold war

6. enable "Peace and prayer act" to bring conversion cost to 0, convert all. If AI is complaining about conversion, just convert said planet to make the diplomatic demand "no longer valid"

I wonder how you got the achievement on the first release.. even with the patch preview I could never get the achievement to trigger even after converting 3/4 of the huge galaxy.. I am a bit scared of doing yet again a new game trying to get it, now that the new patch is out. Does anyone knows if the achievement works reliably now??

It would appear that only planets given to academy count, not planets academy colonizes itself so set academy to lowest difficulty and repeat the process .

This one was bugged for me. Is it working now?

You got a very interesting approach. Will you mind if I link this to my steam achivements guide?

With shame this is the only I didn't get yet

Hmmm.. interesting! I'll have to try that then! Any idea how many systems would represent 1/2 of an average huge galaxy, so that I can count how many I give and have left to give?

Also I wonder if I can invade systems the Academy settled themselves, give them to an AI for a truce and them convert the, back to Academy...

You can do the math. Depends on the density I suppose.

Yup, that would work in my estimate.

You may want to get it first, and then make a guide about it.

The Twitch link no longer works, and I have a question. Did you give all the systems to the Academy at the end of the game, or did you cede systems to the Academy incrementally over the course of the game?

I've made a few attempts at the achievement, and I've found it's far easier to snowball (using the Cathedral to the Lost) if I just take the systems myself instead of giving them to the Academy.

I suppose it does not really matter, but I would suggest increments since they favour the overexpansion cap.

The video is unfortunately obsolete anyway, featuring temples without the +10 influence per pop, so it was about 9000+% more difficult, but the same logic should work pretty much.

Yeah, the new temples definitely make it a lot easier. I think I'm close to finishing my game:

(This is on a normal speed, default huge galaxy with endless AI, endless pirates, and hard academy.)

I think I might write up a short guide later on if there isn't one already: using the Cathedral to expand seems so strong that it makes gifting to the Academy seem absurdly weak by comparison.

Well, I don't think Cathedral is that overpowered, but I'll save my thoughts for my other post.
