Intro Movies and Faction Movies do not play on Win 10

Greeting All!

I have been playing Endless Space 2 in early release and beta!  It is a great game and thank you for all your hard work!

I have noticed that the intro movie, (Sega and Amplitude) movies no longer play at the beginning of the game.  I simply get the windows 10 waiting blue circle.  When I mouse click, the game begins to load and the gameplay from runs great!

Also, during the startup of a session, none of the faction movies play.  I simply see the closed captioning at the bottom of a black screen (no sound).

I have tried all the recommended solutions on you "check here first page".

I then explored the steam folder and found that the intro and faction movies are .mp4 files.  Windows 10 does not natively play .mp4 files.

Would this be the reason that the movies will not play?

Thank you in advance for your help with this issue.

I use windows 10 too and don't have any of those problems. Maybe it's a hardware or GPU driver issue? One of the mods/vips would probably know better.

Thanks for the reply SirBagel.

I do have the latest GPU and Windows drivers.  Never thought about chipset driver though.

I will look into that.  Thanks!

Thanks cyr4x, but that did not work.  It actually made the game hang more.  I will post a log this afternoon.

Thank you again for helping out!

I've also had this same issue since the first early access build on Steam.  At the start of a game, my selected faction's intro movie will be a black screen with just the subtitles showing.  I'm also running Windows 10, but I'm not sure it's related to that as there are likely many people on Windows 10 not experiencing this issue.

Finally got everything to work.

After updating graphic drivers and such, I still could not get the movies to play.  (The intro and faction movies)

Then I went poking around in the local files, via the Steam right-click menu, and from there I reinstalled both Direct X and Microsoft.net framework.

Now everything works!

Thank you all for your assistance and comments!  It was greatly appreciated!
