Moment of crash: just after reaching 100% on progress bar of the ES2 splash screen.

It worked yesterday though (i.e. prior 1.0.5 patch).

Tried workarounds: reinstalling the game, delete all contents from Endless Space 2 folders (Documents and AppData), restarting PC.

I get the same, theres a workaround you set your graphics to Good and ignore the crash pop up window and disable cinematics

Yeah, I know. There is also an easier way by adding '-novideo' to launch command. But still, it's only a workaround and you miss all the cinematics this way, and I want to experience the game in it's full glory :)
