Was able to play this fine for the first couple of hours on my first playthrough but since then every game I start freezes at some random point during the first turn.  The sound still continues and if I click on the screen I can hear it interacting with the game still but the screen stays frozen on whatever it was on.  

E.g. can be when i first click on the tech screen it can freeze mid way through but i can click and hear myself selecting techs etc.

The only thing I can do is manually kill the application by using the task manager.

Have tried all the steps listed on the common issues thread and also redownloaded and reinstalled the app, including trying older graphics drivers.

Any help please?

Try any of the following:

1. Restart your pc.

2. Update your graphics card drivers

3. Change graphics settings to lower resolution

4. Don't use fullscreen, or if you aren't in fullscreen, then use it

5. Change your graphics settings to lowest possible, if freezes stop, then incrementally increase your settings until you find the chokepoint

6. Re-install

Thanks!  One thing I hadn't tried was swapping from fullscreen, borderless window mode seems to work fine.
