Friend gets stuck at Downloading screen

Hello,


When i create a game and my friend join my lobby and we start the game. My game loads and I am with status ready, while he is stuck on downloading. I have tried woth different random people from the lobby they also get stuck when I host game at downloading. 


When I join other peoples games i join them without a problem. So there is something wrong with my game. 


Game is added in all possible firewall whitelists and allowed to use any and all connections from my PC. 


Please assist me as I can not host any game as no one can get past the downloading problem. 


I am up for a live troubleshooting as well with some of you guys. Just let me know because i want this to be resolved so I can enjoy creating games and people to be able to join them.

This happened to me.


I own all the dlc, my friends do not.


So they were downloading the expansions.


Maybe ask if your friends own the same dlc as you.

Hi,


Does not matter I had this issue with vanilla version and all my friends vanilla as well. 

Now i purchaed the DLCs to try if it will be different, its still the same. So It does not have anything to do with DLCs.


I have no idea how this should be fixed. But it stops us from playing ...

This problem seems to occur when you have missing or corrupt game files, have you tried verifying your install through Steam?

Hm. I wonder if it might be a setup in your network then. It doesn't make sense that you can join and play but not host as the game files would be the same regardless, it sounds like there might be a problem with your network but I'm not a network specialist and I doubt I could help you troubleshoot it. Sorry. Maybe see if you know anyone around you that could take a look at your network settings?

Hi,


I have checked all allowances on my Network and ISP control panel. There are no restrictions. I have went through with a friend with share screen checking on this but could not find the reason why this is happening. I have reinstalled Windows as well, no improvement. This is such a weird problem, i dont know ... 

And its crap as I cant make my friend buying DLC if they dont want them but I have purchased them and I want to play with the new races that I now own ... 


I dont know what more to check, but there should be a resolution , im sure womething can be done to fix this just dont know what to do..

That is incorrect. No DLC data needs to be downloaded when starting a multiplayer game, because the data is already bundled with the patch that releases along with the DLC. The data that needs to be downloaded here is data pertinent to the match itself.


That said, if the file integrity has been verified, and the net connection and firewall have been checked, I am not sure what could be causing this.

Ah ok. Then it was not the DLC. That's what we thought.

Ok then how can we do some tests are you guys willing we perform some checks together ?

Do either you or your friend have any error log in C:/Program Files (x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/Endless Space 2? It would be in a folder with a date for a name.

No nothing. As well just to mention it does not work with anyone. With whoever i try to make a game and host it we get stuck. I can join, I can not host and gets stuck on the loading screen like its trying to make a connection between myself the server and the other person.

Here are some potential fixes to try:

Start a new Protected-mode game alone, and then save on turn 1, then load that game again in Protected mode lobby, then invite, you may be able to connect to each other.

Restart computer. Host game with public mode, Send invite to only one friend friend. After he connects, then othes can.

Go to -> Steam - Settings - Downloads - Download region and make sure everyone joining game is in same download region.

When you host the game use a unique lobby name you have never used before.

The only thing that was no tried is starting a game saving and inviting. Someone availabe so we can try this workaround ...?

The best way to find someone live to play or test Endless Space is check the Amplitude Discord in the lfg (looking for group) channel. Here is the official Amplitude Discord. If you scroll down you will find a channel named #lfg-endless-space, ask there.

Hi all,


The issue is fixed now. For anyone that is having this issue or will have it in the future, the game is not the problem. 

The problem was the ISP. 

What I have done is I have changed my ISP provider as I have changed my living location and decided to use a different ISP. They have as well changed the router. 


So if anyone is having this problem that I had for years, its 99% the ISP.
