• Summary / Title: Endless Space 2 freezes when starting new game
• Description: the game freezes at about 55% when launching a new game.  no error message. it screen says connecting to server.
• Steps to Reproduce:start new game
• Reproducibility: 5/5
• Expected Behavior: new game starts
• Version: 1.5.11 S5 GOLD-Public
• System had a clean windows install a week ago, ES2 ran fine this week, and this happens.  Reinstalled game and steam a few times. Followed the steppes listed on the sega site.  No joy.

Did you make sure the "Endless Space 2" folder inside your "Documents" directory was deleted after uninstalling? A lot of times it does not. That folder is where the game stores all your save files and custom configs, so if the problem is in one of those files, you need to delete or rename that folder so the game will create a new one the next time you run it.
