(Mod) Start without Minor Faction population (discontinued after release - use custom race instead)

Game version 0.3.6 S2 ALPHA_Public


For those of you who are annoyed by starting with minor factions.


This file will remove the minor faction pop and replace it with a major faction pop. Furthermore only the political party associated with the major faction is present at the beginning of the game.


To install locate your Endless Space 2 folder and go to: 


Endless Space 2\Public\Simulation


Do the following

  1. Make a backup copy of the original Factions[Major].xml file that is in the Simulation folder.
  2. Replace the xml with the one provided here Factions[Major].xml

Note: Your Endless Space 2 folder can be locate by:

  1. Right-clicking Endless Space in you Steam Library.
  2. Select Properties.
  3. Select Local Files tab.
  4. Press the Browse Local Files... button.

Awesome idea.

I do wonder. If i take sophons with this mod, does it remove the pacifist influence?

I tested it. The pacifist influence provided by the presence of the Haroshem minor faction still remains. :D So in the end, this mod creates a Techologist/Pacifist kind of Sophons. :D

Is this the time when I say that I did not really test my own modifications :D Have added a file in the first post that removes the Political Parties associated with the Minor Factions as well (again with no thorough testing).

Sophon are allready a Technologist / Technologist / Pacifist people, you can check this in the faction influence screen.

If scientism moves (like building science stuff) then they gain "a lot" of scientist voting influence, and if pacifism moves, they get some (more than other political parties).

Just for your information - the Custom Factions (planned for Update 4 Release) will most probably have an option not to start with a Minor Faction

Uploaded file for game version 0.3.6 S2 ALPHA_Public. Note that Amplitude have moved the settings for starting political parties to the Factions[Major].xml so only one file has to be replaced now.
