(Mod) FIDSI Ship Modules

FIDSI_Modules_v0.2.zip


This is my first public mod for ES2, so please be kind :)


To install, copy the attached file [FIDSI_Modules.zip] to your Endless Space 2 folder and then unzip it. Once that is done, you should have three new files:


\Endless Space 2\Public\Gui\GuiElements[KnyghteFall].xml

\Endless Space 2\Public\Simulation\Battles\ModuleDefinitions[KnyghteFall].xml
\Endless Space 2\Public\Simulation\Battles\SimulationDescriptors[KnyghteFall].xml


This Mod adds five new Support modules that can only be added to a Colonizer ship.  Each of the modules pertains to a specific resource (Food, Industry, Dust, Science, Influence) and adds a straight +20 to the system the ship is garrisoned in. 


Each module costs 64 [industryColored], which is probably too cheap.


Once the game is released, I can go back and do a full blown mod (adding external art and so forth) so consider this a work in progress :)

PS: To uninstall, just remove the three files mentioned above. Doing that will likely break saved games that have the modules in play. 

PPS: I just figured out this doesn't work for the Vodyani (as they don't have colony ships), so I'll update some time soon. 


EDIT: Updated to v0.3 KnyghteFall-FIDSI_Modules.zip

- Modules now cost 500 Industry

- Can only be installed on Colony and Hero ships

- Adds 25 of the specific resource 


I've also changed up the filenames, so please delete the old files first. The new files are:

\EndlessSpace 2\Public\Gui\GuiElements[KnyghteFall-FIDSI].xml

\EndlessSpace2\Public\Simulation\Battles\ModuleDefinitions[KnyghteFall_FIDSI].xml
\EndlessSpace2\Public\Simulation\Battles\SimulationDescriptors[KnyghteFall-FIDSI].xml


I changed the names so that I could differentiate between this mod and other works in progress.

I must admit, I REALLY like the dynamic this adds to the game. I had to mod-mod it a bit though, and this is what I went with:


Cost: 500 / module

Effect: 25

Slot type: Support / Hero


I feel this presents nice and well scaling booster for any new colonized systems, while still draining your fleet/hero reserves. There is a bump to go over - you need to research bigger hulls or sacrifice your spare heroes - but once you're over it you can sorta-kinda stack spare production in orbital factory ships and send them out into the world to boost less fortunate planets. They also make a nice juicy non-combat target.

Hi Galilieus,


Using hero ships is great idea!  I've also thought about adding a different cost (Money, Prestige or Strategic) in addition to Industry.
