I'm trying to make a few new heroes but I can't find/extract the information on the Animation dimensions/format/size and the portrait dimensions/format/size for them.

Anyone have this information?

Currently it is possible to mod Heroes names, descriptions, skills, as well as their ships. 

But unfortunately Hero visuals cannot be modified at the moment (though you could use any Hero visuals/animations available). 

I hope that is something we can implement down the road.

How come you can't implement it by default. Presumably the Devs literally created the system, or at the very least, have obviously been working within the confines for years. Whats the problem? Is there some specific program needed? Surely that would be easy to overcome. Is it some advanced coding style that takes too long to explain? Surely that can be explained with any manuals the Devs used internally. Is there some ritual that requires sacrificing an intern to Kathulu? Even that could be overcome. I don't understand where the problem is.
