Faction based on Unhappiness.

Hello, I would like to create something quite like the cravens, but with unwanted mind control and easy rebellions instead.


Right now i'm starting with baby steps and I would like to know how to balance the unhappiness penalties.


I didn't played a lot with unhappy civs (and I always took the religious law for cravens) so I don't really know what really happens.


Can we have a sum up of the penalties somewhere, compared to the extatic/happy ones ? (Or by someone ?)



I also would like to explain what the trait does, can we add some text to them ? I tried with the example description and override effect, but they don't appear here.

The +0.01% is there to make a tooltip of +0% Influnce and Growth / Research and Money

Ow, ok. As planned, this thing will be quite hard with 50+ pop.


Can we add bonuses only on some happiness states ?


The growth and influence penalties are good, but the money and research ones will be a problem. Maybe I should add something for unhappy research based on number of different population per system, if it's possible.


I should also reduce the army upkeep cost because the army will be the only thing to prevent chaos and mutinery. And I won't be able to produce a lot of things except ships, before the production conversion research.


Is there something like "Unhappy empires have battle penalties", like on Civ 5 ? Otherwise I will just add a flat number penalty to my faction trait.

There are population bonuses that only apply on happy and/or ecstatic and in theory that can be made for any particular happiness level.


Also, all the details in the table can be modded, if you wanted your faction could have a different system. (its defined in %Install Folder%\Endless Space 2\Public\Simulation\HappinessStatusSetDefinitions.xml)


I.E. you can set the happiness ranges and what effect is applied in each one

So, you could have it so empire happiness has no effect I.E. Content bonus is applied to all ranges (HappinessStatusEmpire2)

you could have it so Traitorous gets the Defiant "bonus", Devoted gets the loyal bonus and the rest get the content bonus.


Or you can just create your own bonuses including "Unhappy empires have battle penalties"


The Bonuses Effects are defined in "Simulation\SimulationDescriptors[ColonizedStarSystem].xml" (Line 906)

And "Simulation\SimulationDescriptors[Empire].xml" (Line 1111)
