Mod to turn off pop growth on shipbound?

Is their any mod anyone has made to turn off the pop growth so you have to spend essence for it? I love the shipbound but if the pops grow normally it is too op. 


I did have a look at how to make mods but I think I think its a bit too complicated for me.

You do have to play the Vodyani visual affinity with Ship Bound, if it's a custom, for the changes to work but it does indeed switch off the natural pop growth and role of food. That, along with some other nices to smooth out the affinity. Thanks for the shout, lilyophelia.

Would it work if you use the planet depletion trait instead of the vodyani one? I am playing craver visual with shipbound at the moment and its the most fun combo I have played on endless by far. I thought it was going to be really overpowered but then realised I could really only have 3 pops per ship as otherwise the planets deplete too fast and trying to juggle strategic resources is a task aswell.


I advise anyone to have ago with it.


I am also playing with the combat balance mod which is also a massive improvement.

Oh, wow that does sound extremely cool! Moving from place to place on great ships eating the planets!


A lot of things are hard-coded when it comes to factions, so not everything is possible. I'm not sure exactly what can be done here, but I'm sure @Aitarus is probably the expert on this since he's spent so much time on this.

You could make a custom Vodyani visual and assign them Extreme Foremen to get similar gameplay yeah, but to make Cravers themselves not grow would be separate as the pop growth type is set for the visual affinity not the gameplay (ship bound). Currently I don't think there's a way to hand that down onto the pop.


Yes, I like the idea of combining depletion with a mobile empire. It's reminscient of Vasari Loyalists from Sins - I was at one point considering adding a lighter depletion mechanic for Vodyani proper as part of my rework to try and incentivise moving your Arks more, but scrapped it.

After playing it for awhile now (turn 168 endless normal speed) it isn't that bad having the growth as either you level up and get more pops but deplete and move on faster or keep it low and stay longer. It only really matters at the start as after that you can leech pretty quickly anyway. I just hope the sort the ai random factor when it comes down to ship building because this time they built loads of mediums but none have upgraded weapons.
