Hey, ES forums. Dedicated player, but inexperienced modder here. I'm wondering if anyone knows of, or has any interesting creating (or helping me to create) a mod that makes quest rewards scale so they're always useful.  Currently, there's not much of a reason to compete for quests. In my eyes, the major problems are these:

  • Dust rewards are almost always worthless. First, they are usually pretty low to begin with--often, at best, 2-3 turns of natural empire dust production in the early game. Second, late game, they're always vastly outscaled by inflation. Lastly, resource rewards often sell for more on the market, so they offer more value. I'd suggest doubling dust rewards baseline, and then making sure they adjust for inflation.
  • Strategic resource rewards are slightly undertuned, but for the most part, they're not terrible. I think they could stand to be tuned up a little for the competative quests, however.
  • Luxury resource rewards are basically dust rewards with a different coat of paint. Outside of niche population growth boosts, there's no point keeping a luxury resource you can't produce, since the primary way to use luxuries are for system upgrades. I'd probably scrap them entirely.
  • Most modules and buildings are in a decent place. Things like Cleaver Beams really have the potential to drive player compeition, or actually make you want to focus on quests.
  • Hero Quest rewards are fine. I've gotten into really fun "battles" over getting things like the photobomber first.
  • Ships from quests an anomolies are currently very weak. Ideally, it would spawn a top-tier ship that provided a noticable advantage. Often, they end up being worse than any current ship in the player's fleet.

Final note: The Academy quest is perhaps the apex of underwhelming rewards. Again, the buildings are quite good, but all other rewards often don't even equal the amount of effort players put in for competing. They need to be heavily boosted.

Thoughts? Anyone know of any mods in work like this, or have experience creating this sort of mod?
