ENDLESS™ Space 2 is turn-based 4X space-strategy that launches players into the space colonization age of different civilizations within the ENDLESS™ Universe. Your Vision. Their Future.
So, I made simple mod that make AI fleets better and more deadly. The changes are extremely minor and after testing it, there seem to be no bugs. Id like to post it up on steam but have some compatibility questions.
For the mod, It:
1. Removes strategic resource cost for bonus module slots. This is the main reason AI cant compete late game because it cant manage resources and is building full fleets with only stock module slots. This does have the effect of making the resource market much less profitable, but that is really only useful for the player, and my goal was to help the Ai. This does so.
2. It changes armor and shield modules. Shield modules now add a small amount of armor, and Armor modules now add a small amount of shields. So, a tier III shield module also adds tier I amount of armor, for example. This slightly helps the AI problem of only stacking a single type of module and having useless fleets.
Its a very simple mod and it does improve AI ability to make viable fleets by a huge amount. Id like to make it compatible with other (much more comprehensive) mods. But I dont know how mod overrides work in ES2.
Im not sure how to word the question, so I have to give an example. In Fallout, if I change line 5 of the Settler file, and another mod changes line 9 of the Settler file, then both with work since there is no conflict in the lines. The game will draw from both mods settler files. If both mods changed line 6, there would be a conflict, and the mod lower in the load order would control.
So, in ES2, if I change just a very few lines in the Ships xml, and other mod changes different lines in the Ships xml, is a conflict determined at the file level (ships xml) and only one xml will be used, or is the conflict determined at the line level of each mod (like Fallout) and it will draw from both Ships xml files? And does the "controlling" mod have to be higher or lower in the load order?
