Hello,

Just was interested to see how many, like me, would like to see a faction that is visiually based on the ancient egyptians. Things like their art-style, clothes, gods such as Osiris, Anubis and Ra.Also if you are interested in the idea can you comment your idea of how such a faction would operate? Would love to read them!!! :D

i can totslly see Endless Space’s artists fitting ancient egypt into the games aesthetic. sadly since its real world history it would be a tough sell. their ideology would be a tough nut to crack. making them industrialists would be bringing the topic of slave labor into the mix and obviously that would be avoided .... so religious like the Vodyani? not really sure where else my mind goes thinking about it.

Yeah because Cravers doesn't have slaves already and so... xD about the history of Earth on the space yes, that would be a hard decision to do (anyway that didn't stopped them to do Vikings - Vaulters, Aztecs + Samurai = HIssho, United Empire we know about what is based and so on... xD

One of the main appeal, at least for me, of the Endless series is the originality of its factions. A mix of common and uncommon stereotypes, of several real life cultures with unique gameplay mechanics merged competently and sometimes even elegantly to produce a faction that is at least somewhat creative with regards to the "classics" of fiction and interesting to play. It's done rather well in EL and even better in ES2, imho.

All of this to say that I'd prefer to leave the faction design to Amplitude, and intervene in faction creation only through the games2gether platform, rather than taking the initiative of pushing a certain type of faction appearance.

Well, a whole faction maybe too much. But I can imagine a reskin of a current faction to resemble ancient egypt, but in space, would be fun.  A new visual affinity with ships and all basically., for one faction. That would also allow you to make a custom faction with that visual affinity, in the end not forcing you to play that reskinned faction.

Good Idea!

But You Know I Think Their People Must Be Something Like Mummy(The Ones Who Sleep In Tomb) Or Skeletons.

But For Their Ships...

Please don't talk about Mummies in space. I've just seen "Mumrah the ever living" in the game being chased by the Thunder Cats in a super colonizer pimped out with Rail Guns firing sword blades. "Thunder. Thunder! THUNDER. HO!!!"

Id rather see an arachnid species, or in general, things with more than 4 limbs. The races look too humanoid as it is.

Ancient Egypt requires a lot of labour to be made unique, as it's quite a cliche nowdays. On the other side, a cliche is a cliche because it works. Neither vampiric, nor robotic or undead Egypt would go, so I think if we want to walk this path like Egyptian, it would be cool to see a parodic one. Like imagine: a race fully relying on masters from space with a hell of a ton of scavenging, low tech, theocratic society and ability to choose one of major races as the gods they worship now, which gives a buff to relationship and influence specifically on that race, trading and making the now-overlord obliged to protect this race, and some other buffs too. Yet they would be able to choose only the race which has more systems or overall has more points than our vasalgyptians. Oh, and they should be able to go full Crusade on their masters' enemies and XBAWX HUEG CRUSADE when their overlords' land is taken by some blasphemers. To take back Jerusalem, you know. Holy Horus, do you understand, it's Knight-Egyptian-Ufologist-Leech-fanatics.

Oh, and if they chose the Riftborn or Vodyani as overlords, they would ASCEND TO HEAVEN, for the m e m e s.

It's dangerously Necron-ish.

It would be better for a minor faction i think.

I have to back that up, I feel like ES2 has grown more into more non-traditional major factions that it actually feels amazing to play, minor factions are cool don't get me wrong, but they can also be deployed in the future as full on factions, think of the minor part as a trial in a way, to give us a general impression of how the population would behave then push it into a major faction after an uprising of sorts, could be a pretty amazing lore-depthening bonus.

Quick edit : I just realized this post might be necro'd, I apologize for doing so.
