I swear, and I know it sounds crazy, but I swear I'm inocent. Just ask the rest of the crew about all that. All the weird stuff happening. I don't know how, but it's GOT TO do with how the files were stolen. I don't even know how I'd get them, the crew have no access to anything. The files, the memory, the computer, can't even enter the room with the server or whatever it's called, how would I do it?

Ok, ok, listen. We were just taking the stuff to Rigel. Nothing special, just cargo and info, as long as it doesn't explode we ask no questions, and even then, it would only explode after we are in the FTL jump. Haul stuff in, let them upload their whatever, close and go. Did it a hundred times before. Things are normal. Launch, get permission to reach orbit, then sling out of the planet's pull, just standard stuff. Then we point the ship to the destination - it's all automated, of course - and it does the jump. Into the starlane we go.

And NOW it's where things get weird, because the computer shows a warning - nothing fancy, nothing out of the ordinary, it does that sometimes - saying that it scanned something different in the travel path. It was already in the starlane, so no way for us to really do anything, but that's the idea. Warnings are for things like "doors need grease" and stuff, not like, "the hull was ripped clean off". That's a fatal error, no FTL for us.

Anyway, the computer is saying there's something on the starlane that shouldn't be there. Captain said he's seen that before, it's for when there's a stray rock or moon on the way, that we should warn people to consider it's pull into new calculations or something. Way above my paygrade, and he clearly got that covered. BUT the scanner is showing something like a cloud or a nebula, those pretty ones people think we see in spaceship windows. I though those were huge! It's fine, though. Too late to do anything and all that.

So, couple hours in, speeding through the galaxy, minding my business keeping the floor clean, and the computer says we're close to whatever it warned before. Captain is reading like he always do, it's fine. But THEN the ship shakes, like, trembling a bit. It shouldn't do that during a jump, it should be just smooth sailing till we stop in a system. Captain looks almost concerned, which is more then I've ever seen him bothered, but the can stops shaking and he's back to his book. Then, it starts shaking again, violently. Knocks my bucket, makes a mess. I hate it when the cleaning bot breaks and I have to clean the damn floor. I hold the railing and Captain fell, but after a while it settles down.

THEN, out of NOWHERE, the lights go out. Captain's eyes are lit like two lanterns, all wide looking at me. Everything is red from the emergency lights and there's just the hum from the engines. Captain stands up and goes to the computer, but it's off. We stay some minutes like that, doing nothing. It's just the dark and the red and silence, except for the engines. And suddenly, there's another hum, and another. It's like something singing, I swear. It's creepy as hell. I look at the Captain to ask him what's going on and he mouths "I don't know". It sounds like a chant, a choir, you know? I'm sweating, cold, super scared. We see faint lights moving around, through the ship, like some ghosts, I don't know ok? It's all hella weird and I wanted OUT.

...So, just like that, from a second to the next, it's all working again. The lights, the computer, everything. Captain is white as a sheet, I can almost hear his heart beat, and I bet I was like that too. After that, nothing happened! Like, all normal stuff. No lights, sounds, anything. Out of the starlane, and into the next, again and again till we arrive.

Look, just think for a second. How else would the camera footage disappear, huh? I can't do that, Captain can't do that, no one has access to that. How would we do that, and how would we access the data, huh? No way. And I BET the Captain told you the same story. If we wanted to steal something, you think THIS is the story we would make up? There's pirates and shit out there! We could've said it was pirates, I don't know! Just let me go, please. Please. Let me go already. Wait w-what's that? No. Nonono, no! NO! NO! [...]
