How much do you recommend endless space 2?

Sure yess!!! I just love this game so much!! I have all the DLC and can't wait for a new one!!

It has an alliance system which helps me greatly in achieving victory of any type. When playing Civ5, it's always me against the world and it's really frustrating. Not here.

Yes.  Still worth it.  I am in the midst of an intensive (for me) two month science fiction 4x gaming spree.  I've played the following (completely unmodded): Stellaris (all DLC), Distant Worlds Universe, GalCiv 3 (no Crusade DLC but half the others), Aurora 4x, Sword of the Stars 2 (I love it even with its problems), and even going full-retro to Space Empires 4.  I love all of these games and they each fill a niche, some better than others.  Please bear in mind I assume that reasonable people may differ on matters of taste and fact as a matter of course.

Endless Space 2 for me is great because of a quality and professionally written backstory in a fascinating setting.  The art, audio, and general style are the best of the products above.  Space combat is quite important to me and I find Endless Space 2's system scratches a unique itch because it:

a.) Doesn't let me play Admiral while playing Emperor of the whole known universe

b.) But DOES let me make some battle decisions that feel like I'm developing "doctrine" for my space force thru the card mechanics and pre-battle planning

c.) I also like the political system and the fact that political decisions have negative consequences.

d.) I never feel like I want to design my own species in this game because Amplitude's are all so great.

However, if you want direct control over your space forces or the ability to "role play" as a species you yourself designed then you might find less value than I do.

I do hope you give it a try because then the chances of Endless Space 3 go up a little bit higher :)
