I'm relatively new to the game.
This has happened twice.
I was on turn 57 of my game, saved then logged out. When I came back to the game and attempted to load, the only saves were a manual save from Turn 23, several auto saves from before turn 23, and a single quicksave from turn 1.
Help please :)

My guess is you are losing your connection to Steam and thus your cloud saves. It will upload saves to a server rather than store them locally, which means when you are offline, or even just not logged in to Steam (which happens sometimes) you can't access them. If it happens again check your connection to Steam, that you are logged in and can message a friend.
