Cannot Load or Create New Game

Reply

I can no longer create a new game or load old ones. I have already verified the files, and after researching a bit, it seems no one else has the solution. Reinstalling would be difficult because of my bad internet. Any suggestions?
Computer Specs:

Predator Helios 300 Laptop

Intel i7 7700HQ
GTX 1060

16GB RAM

UPDATE: I have tried everything, including reinstalling. This is really upsetting to me, as the Penumbra DLC releases today. Any new ideas?

I have figured it out on my own, after a week of digging. After deleting the save files, located in Documents\EndlessSpace2, everything works. I am assuming that it was a corrupted save file. Note, this does mean that you will have to delete all previous save files and your settings. You could remove files one by one maybe, and find the corrupted one, and remove it.

Hey ChocKake,

Would you mind showing us screenshots of the menus and such where you would create or load games from? Like are you unable to click the icons or is it just that when you do nothing happens. The more information you can give, the better we can make potential judgements about what might be causing the problem.

The only things I can suggest with the information you have currently given, in addition to what you have already suggested are broad spectrum fixes like:

-Restarting the game (which no doubt youve tried)

-Runing the programs [Steam/ES2 as administrator]

-Checking to make sure ES2 is allowed through your firewall & antivirus

-Restarting the affected computer system

(The next suggestion is a long shot but if you are desperately trying to not reinstall, trying couldn't hurt)

-You could also try running the ES2 executable as a program on an older version of windows to check if its OS related. (Right click the ES2 exeutable file [under steam/steamapps/common/Endless Space 2] -> click Properties -> click Compatibility -> tick box "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" -> select an older version of windows from the dropdown menu below the prompt you just ticked -> click "Apply" then "OK". You might want to try it once for every option present in the dropdown menu, but remember none of the options work to revert it back to windows [X], X being your normal version of windows.

I hope something here helped, if not please leave some specific information and screenshots as to what exactly doesn't work, so that others can help you out.

Peace, :)

-Pyro

Hi.

So it would seem that none of the solutions did work, and I am still having the issue. And, as you asked, the game launches fine, and I can click the buttons, but neither loading a game or creating one will work. The buttons still have the sound effects and all, they just don't do anything. If anyone has any further theories or suggestions, please post them.
Thank you.

Because nothing seems to be working, I will attempt re-installation tonight. If my internet does not let it finish overnight, I will try over the weekend at a friends house. Also, pressing beginner while hovering over a new game makes buttons not react to clicking or hovering, and stresses my computer a bit.
