I had the idea to try to make a faction that hasn't discovered FTL travel. With ships locked at 0 movement points, they could protect a system in orbit, but not travel around between systems. The playstyle would be Influence-based, expanding your borders as fast as possible while settling systems that your borders have revealed in the Lumeris style - just spending a resource to start an outpost. Probably with Riftborn-style strategic resource boosts to colony growth?
The mental image I had in mind was that of a non-FTL civilization that sends a wave of relativistic-speed drones out in all directions, at the speed of the borders' expansions, with each new settlement being drone-constructed with new people being either cloned on-site or minds transferred from another system into bodies constructed at the new location.
I was going to make a custom faction that works that way, but was disappointed to find that the slowest you can go is -2 movement. This would be a really good faction to have start with the Honeycomb Scope for that matter too; really meaningful, instead of just convenient.
Is there any chance that more extreme or unusual custom traits like that might be implemented at a later date?
