I think that it could be more RP if the future result of the battle (that you see when the battle starts) were a little more imprecise at the beggining of the game.

Let me give you a little example, since I see doubt in your eyes. There could at the very beggining be a ±30% imprecision, so that you wouldn't know for sure if you are going to win the battle. After researching a few techs, called for instance "Betterment in pre-fight algo-calculations", this figure would become something as ±5% in the end.
