Alliances seem to take a lot for granted and there are certain situations where i feel a vote between member nations of an alliance would add value and interet in an alliance.
For example, if part of an alliance, when another empire requests to become part of your alliance, let a vote take place between the current members on whether to allow them in. Same could be said for kicking an existing member out. On a few occassions i have found a new member suddenly added to my alliance without any input from myself, scuppering my own plans with how i was dealing with that empire.
Same can be said for Declaring War or accepting/ proposing a Truce. At the moment, the only way of refusing to go to war is to leave your current alliance which is a bit extreme if you have put 150 turns into building a strong relationship, so a vote would be a better intermediate option. With Truces, an enemy empire has squealed and gone to the most peacefully inclined member of my alliance when i am on the cusp of wiping them out and a Truce is accepted. Let me vote on this properly!
This would expand the purpose and depth of being in an alliance rather than just being in one for the sake of having more guns than the other empires.
