One thing i've noticed about invading systems is that they automatically become your colony. This is good and all early game when you need more colonies, but the problem arises when in late game you don't want to colonize anymore. These invaded systems don't come with the choice of razing the system, so that means i have to endure displeasure from my population because of auto colonization. What i want is to be given a choice after a successful invasion.

Choose to keep the colony-population will remain but slowly leave unless you raise happiness up

Destroy colony (two options)

  • Kick the entire population out and all system improvements are destroyed and are reset back when it was pre colonized.
  • Kill the entire population and destroy system improvement but the downside is that there's a chance it will cause disapproval to your empire (goes higher depending how big is your pacifist party)

Maybe somewhere down the research tree you could get an option to turn habitable planets into Ashes or Lava as a way of resource deprivation against your enemy.

ps. we also need more ways to keep citizens happy.

You can do both once you have 100% ownership and the needed techs.

That's the problem: you have to wait out until 100% while your resources are being drained and your population on other systems going haywire because of overcolonization, the fact that fleets can bombard during the ground invasion is probably strong enough to wipe out a system's population.

I agree with you. I almost ended up in Anarchy thanks to the Overcolonisation-Approval-Penalty.

It would be much safer to simply kill everyone on the system and turn it back to neutral, ready to be recolonised by everyone.

One nice thing would be to safe the Buildings on the planets so if someone recolonises the System he also gains all the System Improvements still on the Planets.

This was a peev of mine as well. It seems silly that the only option after invasion is to ocupy the system. There is a tech that allows you to blow up a planet, so maybe this is just a balancing issue so you don't kill all of your enemies early game, but I would like the kill and maim option after invasion... seems only natural, especially for Cravers
