I've noticed a lot of RPGs have changed how they handle savegames in the last few years and i'm wondering if ES2 could benefit.

Essentially, they divide each playthrough into its own set of savegames (in an RPG this is by character.)

It might be tricky to implement at this stage, but it would be awesome to have Endless Space 2 treat each game as a separate set of savegames, including having its own autosaves.    It would especially help out folks who juggle MP and SP games.

I  was about to write this suggestion. I don't think it would be so difficult to implement this feature.

It would make easier to have different playthroughs with different factions for example.

I hope this arrives in one update, it would be awesome.

Stellaris does this.  It has a folder per game started then keeps saved / autosaves in that folder.  Kind of nice.

Seems simply enough to do on the host but requires additional work when dealing with steam cloud saves.
