Different party names for each major faction

Hello, this idea revolves about having individual party names for each major faction.

Idea Summary:

-Not every faction seems suited for "parties" as we know them

-Parties being elected usually just represent a certain amount of people in your populace sharing a certain opinion

-Having special names for parties could expand the lore

-No changes gameplay-wise

-alignment of the party could be displayed to avoid confusion for new players, e.g.: Postrealism Party (religious)

Example:

(note: most rough idea how parties could be renamed)

Party / interest group name
Sophons
Vodyani
Lumeris
Craver
Unfallen
United Empire
Religious
Postrealism Party
Church of the Virtual Saints
Transcendence Party
Heroists
Spirituals
Propaganda Union
Scientific
Progress Party
Sect of Ascendance
Exploration Party
Evolutionists
Seekers
Science Union
Industrialist
Builder Party
Sect of Creation
Production Party
Exploiters

Industrial Union
Ecologist
Environmental Party
Sect of Preservation
Growth Party
Devourers
Seeders
Agriculture Union
Militarist
Weapon Testing Party
Sect of Purgation
Acquisition Party
Expansionists
Augmenters
Arms Union
Commercialist / Pacifist
Cooperation Party
Sect of Collection
Trade Party
Symbiotics
Commerce Union

Not every "party" needs to be a classical party now. For example I just can't imagine the Vodyani, Craver or Unfallen to have classical parties. Instead, for example, they might have certain "interest groups" for the Unfallen, "hive-feelings" for the Craver or "sects" for the Vodyani. Which would make sense, lore-wise.

More ideas in the comment section below!

Pros:

-much stronger lore implementation in the game

-better "feeling"

-renaming of the parties is very easy to implement

Neutral:

-UI concept regarding senate probably needs to be reworked, since in some cases there would be no "senate" to speak of. (which, again, would make very much sense for some factions)

Cons:

-The whole idea of a classic "senate" is colliding strongly with this idea

While there are some great name suggestions in this idea, ultimately the clarity of having the same party names across factions was more important.

Furthermore, for UE, maybe party names need to be changed as well if players chose to become Sheredyn or Mezari?

For Sheredyn, it's mostly military so maybe we can draw ideas from military departments. I don't have specific proposed names yet.

For Mezari, I was thinking we can revert to older ways of calling things, like this:

Guild of Exaltation

Guild of Development

Guild of Infrastructure

Guild of Conservation

Guild of Defense

Guild of Commerce

A proosal on Unfallen:

Industrialists - Augmenters - because material culture of the Unfallen is tightly connected with mechanical augmentation of their wooden bodies.

Militarists - Carnivores - as a reference to plants that are dangerus to beings of meat.

Pacifists/Commercialists - Mission Keepers - because the ultimate mission of the Unfallen is pan-galactic peace.

Definitively needed due to the diverging factions and lore behind them.

The negative that the idea is incompatible with the concept of a Senate is not issue as the above are already incompatible with that in many cases

If common political logos and icons are still used, player wlll not be confused which direction the party is going, though matching party flag would go a long way of making each party of each faction feel unique and awesome it hteir own way

I support this 110%.  It'd really add a lot of flavor to the game.  It's just kind of silly that everyone actively calls themselves "militarists."

Renaming is a must have. Liking a name or not of a party is a very subjective experience and players should have the freedom to change the name of parties in their own faction. Even opposition parties.

Nice suggestion, voting on this one.

I think that one of the cons (It may confuse new players) is not a big issue.
It can easily be neglected if title of political party will be done in format which includes both its name and interest.

For example,

Postrealism Party
(religious)

Commercialist (Pacifist) = Ministry of Abundance

Ministry of Peace... Doesn't it sounds like some kind of 1984 stuff? How about calling them "Ministry of patriotism"?

My idea comes from Emperor's mentioning of "patriots".

Or the other way, as UE have heavy pollution as well as strong propaganda, like many dystopian societies, and it did comes down to "transparent society" if Mezari path is chosen. Even more, the main story line for UE is to gain "absolute control". I was thinking about some "dystopian" names:

Religious: Ministry of Amity

Scientific: Ministry of Advancement

Industrialist: Ministry of Achievement

Ecologist: Ministry of Amendment

Militarist: Ministry of Adventure

Pacifist: Ministry of Allocation

(All names start with "A" for feeling of order and absolute, in one phrase, dystopian feeling)

What's your ideas?

I've updated the OP and filled some blanks.

A small addition: Craver militarists could be called Enslavers due to their affinity.

Did you intentionally skipped Commercialist / Pacifist Unfallen?

Nope, not intended.

Weapon Testing Party. Literally laughing out loud!!

Some additional or alternative wording:

Vodyani Religious = (Virtual) Fundamentalists

Lumeris Militarist = (Debt) Collector Party ^^

Generally, I would propose using the word "Lobby" instead of "Party" for them.

Craver Commercialists (Pacifist) = Symbiotic

Craver Scientific = Evolutionists

Craver Ecologist = Devourers

It is hard to predict how exectly Unfallen are going to be depicted. If an idea of "shared conciousness" is implemented (totally or partially), their party titles could be renamed in an alternative fashion.

Religious = Revelation synapses

Scientific = Cognitive synapses

Industrialist

Ecologust = Propagation synapses

Militarist = Aggression synapses

Commercialist (Pacifist) = Tranquillity synapses

Another idea is to represent Unfallen parties as 5 unique Unfallen individuals. Their strength is based on growth of their "springs" (which are actually parts of one of the 5 Trees, the 5 Minds) across all your empire's planets while the other Unfallen and minor faction populations contribute to growth of the 5 Trees.

Religious = The Sacred Tree

Scientific = The Tree of Knowledge

Industrialist

Ecologist = The Tree of a Billion Seeds

Militarist = The Carnivore

Commercialist (Pacifist) = The Sedative Tree

I like how you explained the political system of the UE through trade unions, except for Propaganda Union which is not intuitive to me. What about something like this?

Religious = Emperor Glorification Movement

On the other hand, the Wiki shows that there is a high impact of the unofficial court of nobles upon the politics. So here is an alternative:

Religious = (ok, I failed to invent something relevant, so again) Emperor Glorification Movement

Scientific = (Science) Patron Court

Industrialist = Manufacturer Court

Ecologist = Landowner Court

Militarist = Officer Court

Commercialist (Pacifist) = Merchant Court

Finally, there could be a compromise which should emphasize a struggle among social classes - a concept that fits well the 19th-early-20th-century flavor of the UE.

Religious = Emperor Glorification Movement

Scientific = Science Council

Industrialist = Labour Union

Ecologist = Landowner Court

Militarist = Officer Court

Commercialist (Pacifist) = Merchant House

yeah, if there was a text indicator for the alignment of the party/interest group, that'd definitely help. Thanks for the input! :)
