Home System should have an extra habitable planet at start

Home Systems can be very frustrating to have if there is only the faction's home planet and gas giants. These systems should represent an important part of any empire, so my idea is to have any of these:

  • Have a minimum of 1 additional instant habitable planets from the start (besides the home planet)
  • Have an additional random Era 1 planet in the system

The status of this idea has been changed to IMPLEMENTED as it has been implemented in the game. High five! Congratulations!
The balancing of Home System has been improved to follow your idea but also to keep a kind of random to make each new game and Home System unique. Now, we take into account the planet types, the number of population that could live on them and the "difficulty" for the faction to colonize them, for each planet generation of the Home system. On that way, you can have a Home System with small planets, fewer population slots but that you can colonize directly at the start or huge planets with many population slots but you will need to wait for more time to unlock the linked technology.

Agree. I had to restart way too many times before my starting system was open to further play in the same way as it was in Endless Space 1. I also find that no matter the game generation settings, the number of planets in each individual system is way too low.

I agree with the idea. Starting systems should have a minimum size (e.g. 4) whereas 1 planet should be able to be colonized instantly or by era 1 technology and at least 1 further planet by era 1 or 2 technology.

Simply guaranteeing that there will be at least one Era 1 planet in the home system would be a good idea, for sure.

The GREENLIT status is given by the dev team to ideas they will really likely implement in the near future. Almost there!

Really doesn't matters to me if you got 1 inst-colonizable panet, and EraI planet or no other early-game planet, a long as all factions get the same to balance the start.

IMO there's a good thing to be an option in galaxy generation, so +1 here.

Often in such games, home system is set for each race, so there is no random. That could work, cos yeah, home world should be something special. Except for example Voryani, where their story says that everything is messed up... But that could be offset by race abilities or extra resources whatever and generally intended.
