Instead of providing a useless, all be it free ship from exploring planets, grant us access to that hull when discovered, so that we may build and modify pirate ships as we see fit. Please do this to dramaticly improve the game play. That is all.

This maybe too powerful change for gameplay because you can't just unlock other major factions ships easily on an accident. I think there should be additional unlock condition before you get the ship blueprint. Like you need a research before unlocking the ability to adapt foreign designs via dust/influence/whatever cost.

I disagree they would be OP. But sure, lets say you are right, then we solve this by binding the ship hulls to specific expedition levels, and bind a global upgrade to Pirate hulls by unlocking private fleet. With progression element, this is not OP, mearly a further investment into the rewards of exploration and gameplay enjoyment.
