     I would like to see in space battles is the ability to choose which ships end up in which flotilla.  Currently the game automatically splits large fleets into flotillas and you only get to select the one battle tactic for the fight.  As a result, a lot of times ships end up in automatically assigned flotillas and positions that don't always make sense.  In the future, I would like to see the ability added where I could move ships into the flotillas I want them in.  This way I could have more varied ship designs purposed for specific roles and then place them in flotillas more suited to their role.  I would also like to be able to set tactics for each flotilla rather than the current one all encompassing tactic for the whole battle for all flotillas.  So I could have one flotilla set for long range bombardment while having another flotilla set to get in close, tank damage while dealing dealing light to moderate damage.  As the battle system currently stands, I have to omnibuild all my ships to account for every battle.  I would like to see more freedom and more varied battle tactics in space battles.  The game almost seems like it's headed in this direction already, such as with the Vodyani medium ships that you can't fit short range weapons on them, meaning they can't fight at all at close range.  But I thought I should bring this point up in either case, because I would very much like to see the space battle configuration options expanded.

I totally agree. Without removing the strategic aspect of this type of game, a minimum of tactics is necessary to make the battles interesting and useful.

fully agree too. But don't push the micro-gestion too far.  Actually we are not obliged to omnibuild as we can compose fleet with very specific design we made. But the auto placing system is not always precise. To be able too move ships manually and to promote specific tactics for each sub-group would be greater than the auto-sort function.

Just a heads up, no offense intended:


Bare in mind how long ago this was written and once an idea is wishlisted or Greenlit, you are no longer able to edit the original post.  I wrote this idea back during the initial alpha where there was no real pre-battle customization at all.  You couldn't even move ships between flotillas back then.  So just bare that in mind before disecting that post too literally while comparing it's contents to how the game plays now.  Back when this idea was originally posted, the battle system was an entirely different beast and the ship design system was also very different which had drastic impacts and differences affecting battles as well, which you have to take into account when comparing how the game is now compared to how it was back then and how it prompted me to post this idea back then.


Now while I didn't get the per flotilla tactics I originally wanted, they did mostly implement the pre-battle system in the game now pretty closely to how I originally pitched.  So in all honestly, I would probably consider this idea as implemented at this point.
