Let's be honest here, this is by-far the prettiest and most amazing ship-builder we've ever seen in a space 4x game, not counting Galactic Civilization III of course, since that ship-builder is basically a 3d design studio that only a person who's completely mad would think to use in-game.

This is the first 4x space game I have seen where the things I put on my ship actually show up on the hull in spots that are creative and immersive, while also having animations of their own. Meanwhile, games like Master of Orion don't even bother to have their modules show up on the hull, and Stellaris just has rectangle hulls with turrets stacked on top of the hull.

That being said though, even though Endless Space 2 is infinitely more pleasing to the eyes than Stellaris is, it has one glaring issue: You can make your own hull types in Stellaris.

Thus, my question to the developers is this: How hard would it be to break down the in-game hull types into "sections" or such, and then let the players pick their own sections for which to build the hull design for whatever classification of ship they want? As it sits, I feel like there's a missed opportunity here with the ship designer, I feel like there is not nearly as many hull types as there could be, and at times I find myself wishing I could just design my own.

Of course this game has been released by now, so I know this is probably a long-shot thing to ask for. But I guess I can remain hopeful for an expansion or some-such that breaks down the hulls into pieces that can be interchanged and what-not. But regardless, thank you for the great game, and I'm nothing but optimistic for it's future.
