I wish there was a support module that added the ability to board ships and claim them as spoils of war or maybe a % chance that if u win the battle you also salvage a ship. This would be perfect for the UE with their "Endless" supply of manpower. I was thinking that they'd use the same amount of manpower as a manpower module, but can also be targeted and destroyed the same way as fighters and bombers can be( they move slower than a fighter/bomber), also just to balance it up a bit, They can only be installed on cruiser size and bigger hulls. Also the Enemy has a chance to repel boarders with a greater repelling chance if they have any manpower modules equipped, That way due to the size of the vessel, large ships would "need" to equip manpower modules as a "ship security force" thus making smaller ships easier but by no means any less risky to capture, It's just an idea floating in my head, I'd welcome ideas and improvements.
Throughout history combatants have always tried to capture ships rather than destroy them, it has several hugely rewarding factors that make it worth the risk, firstly, bragging rights, if a certain amount of your ships get captured, you'd take a reputation(influence) hit, also there is the chance to capture technology and reverse engineer it, The allies captured a u boat thus Enigma was finely theirs to crack, I admit this idea has huge ramifications to the balance of the game especially as everyone would just target the sophons to steal tech essentialy and get oh so powerful really fast, but before you start a space battle there should be a toggle-able action that auto scuttles a ship if they are or are nearly captured, I should add that scuttling a ship also has a knock on effect on your manpower aquisition and happiness for 10 turns,( once the citizens hear that you'd willingly kill them to protect technology, they'd be a little unhappy).
