Destabilize the Senate of other Factions with Lobbyists/Spies/Emissaries/Heroes

The Context

As a whole, the Senate system is great for immersion and deepens the gameplay. For now, players can interfere with elections thanks to special actions depending on their government type.

The Idea

It would open a lot of gameplay options and strategies to be able to mess with the elections of other major Factions. A Sophon opponent too far ahead in  Science? A Lumeris sitting on a mountain of  Dust? Maybe "infiltrate" their Senate and spend lots of  influence points to ensure the victory of the Religious or the Militarists could really slow down their progress

Additional Suggestions

"Infiltration" could be conducted with Lobbyists, Spies or even Emissaries that could be hired and maintained with  Dust in a dedicated building unlockable in the 2nd or 3rd Era.

Or the Espionage system of Endless Legend could be a good start too, with Heroes acting as "election destabilizers"!

Yeah, political espionage would be a really cool addition. Plus it would give me something to spend my stockpiles of influence on.

This idea seems really cool, I think. On the other hand, one should be able to defend against such actions by being able to influence the outcome with propaganda or something else. (Besides the current ways of influencing the election)

Lobbyists, Spies or even Emissaries

Reminds me of Civ where you can send a spy as a diplomat to an allied faction instead of spying. (Which is good, of course.)

@mixerria : Such action against another Faction should cost a lot of influence points. But I agree, there should be a way to defend the Senate. Maybe putting a Hero as a "Senate President" could be a way to drastically inscrease the cost in influence of an attack ^^

Your remark on Civ regarding the spy/diplomat feature in on point, this was my base idea.

This seems awesome! It would also be cool if you could target your own senate/people with this type of action. A more extreme version of the election influence actions you can do right now. I'm basically thinking of the V for Vendetta plot where the fascist party targets their own people with a biological agent so that their party can grab power.

I got a similar idea for my faction affinity in my proposition in faction creation contest.

As I like the idea implemented in one or another way, and my faction didn't even get into last vote, I'll upvote your thread.

Like to see people wants this way of playing the senate.

A supplement: other factions' population inside your inflience area is shifting towards your prevalent ideology (ideology of the ruling party).

The idea is promissing, but please make the politics more transparent, controllable and beneficial first. Otherwise there will be no point in spending resources and time on creating a specific political framework of the empire.

I thought about influencing others parties with spies etc would be a great idea to add when they ad espionage :) glad to see I am not the only one  I will add an upvote :D.  I hope the espionage system is as interesting as EL.

I think they should try to duplicate somewhat the espionage system from Endless legend where a hero could spy on people and perform tasks to sabotage systems. And If they hero was bought on the market, it could appear as a non-specific faction to the victims. making it hard for them to see who was harassing there system.

I think maybe we can add "facilitation" and "resistance" system to it.

"Facilitation" means you should be able to pour extra resource to your spies to let them have an easier time infiltrating. For an example, maybe you can spend a certain amount of  science, diverting some of your scientific effort to analyze target's culture and power structure, or give your spy some dust, let them bribe local authorities. Luxury and strategic source may also be spent, as many people in black market may want them. I think they should have different special effect, but I can't come up with anything specific yet.

On defensive side, there should be different levels of "Resistance" against espionage. Like building "Intelligence Bureau " or "Police station".

Affinity, political output and form of government can play a role in this: Slave drivers are assumably harder to infiltrate, as all beings not of their own kind are either heroes or slaves. For ark civilizations, spies can be lethal as it's much easier to sabotage one single ark than blowing up all colonies across a system. For singularity- affected systems, you may "lost contact" with your spies from time to time as the system the spy is in does not share the same time with you.

Also, rallying a parade, persuading ruling elites, and whispering on the ear of emperors have different levels of difficulties. So when a society's power is more concentrated, it should be harder to infiltrate, but it will also be more effective if a successful action is taken.

You could add a "sabotage" tech that allows you to draw lobbyists, spies, emissaries, saboteurs from a unique manpower set to destabilize opponents' systems. Would be cool to have more political intrigues, maybe even going as far as having the ability to hire assassins to attempt to kill off heroes. I think it would be cool to have a set of options pop up by hovering the mouse over enemy systems.

I'll be honest, I figured this was a given with one of the first DLCs rather the way Amplitude did in Endless Legend. Yes of course we want to see it, but take your time and make it awesome. ;)
