With the previous addition of the Galactic Statecraft Update and the upcoming Vaulters update that allows Diplomacy with the Pirate Leadership, why not take a look inward into the Political System involving the various political parties in Endless Space and make them do Political Demands!
What would Political Demands be like?
It's rather simple, actually. During the course the game, the Elections happen and you often have to see if the party you've been supporting will actually have the votes to keep leadership for this upcoming term. If another party gets elected, then the new political party forcibly implements a new law into place while removing the previous political party's pinned rule.
So what's new that in the course, like say in between elections, the Political Leaders of your Empire make a Demand and if you meet the Demand, then you suffer no Approval Penalty but if you dont, then there's an increasingly harsh Approval Penalty the more powerful the Political Party is (A flat -5 Approval Penalty on Functioning, and maybe a -25/30 Approval Penalty on Potent.) The approval penalty can apply on the Populations with the Militaristic Trait and maybe a 50% reduction on Populations that share a Militaristic Trait. In other words, it can be very devastating on not meeting
For example:
- Militarist Political Party puts a Demand that you create (X) Amount of Ships/Improvements/Win Battles
- Scientist Political Party puts a Demand that you Explore (X) Amount of Curiosities
(The demands could also become more stronger as a Party grows in strength)
(I wish I had more to go but this is all I could muster out as its late but I do promise to add more to this)
Basically put, I wish there was a little bit more repercussion to the changing political climates that happens throughout a game and that there was a more strong force being pushed back against you in the case that you you do not meet the needs and wants of the current political power in place.
