Ship Bound and Systems: Adjusting Ship Design, System Managment and Research Elements

The basic Idea is to update the 'Ship Bound' faction trait with how Arks interact with their System through adjustments in the Ship Design, System Development and Research menus, as follows:

  • First, transfer current Ark System Support Modules (within the Ship Design Menu) over to elements found in the Systems Management Menu.

    • All Must Tithe III – Dust 

    • All Must Study – Science 

    • All Must Serve III – Industry 

    • All Must Worship – Command 

    • All Must Provide – Essence 

  • Second, make use of the Specializations in System Management Menus for 'Ship Bound' Specializations.

Like how Geo-Industrial Plants or Finance Commission are available, Arks should be able to have their set of 'Ship Bound' Specializations available there too. 

  • Third, Research Projects and Tier Progression unlocks could make available and then strengthen 'Ship Bound' System Specializations, as it works for other factions.

Can instead of having the capability of having multiple All Must Tithe modules in the current system (looks like we can stack nine into an Ark, for example), we can have stronger bonuses unlocked through Research.



Such a change within the Ship Design, Systems Management and Research menus, can improve Ark and System micromanagement, by fitting those elements into more appropriate areas with existing in-game infrastructure, as it appears that Arks are able to save their Improvements, when moving an Ark to a new System, I figured that the available Specialization could go from “No Specialization” to one of the listed above.


So I hope that such ideas work for the 'Ship Bound' trait in the early and mid-game, to help improve how a ship bound faction plays.

point 1) Completely reworking all support modules to system management ... maybe it can better, but I don't really see that there is a big upside, and considering it's probably a large effort to make the change I think there are more pressing issues to deal with first...


point 2) Ship bound spezalistions sounds nice. I can support that!


point 3) We already can upgrad the modules, I got myeself All Must study first, then number II, then number III and then to IV. Having just played Vodyani I think it's a bit OP to be able to put 9 of the same type of module yes on all arks. Makes it very easy to quickly make a tremendous effort for almost any kind of victory condition. Like just at the end I realised that I could have gotten economic victory even faster than science victory in this game, but it was too late. I got my second science victory. I'd think some kind of restriction on number of same module may be in order and just adding a cap is probably easier than reworking all modules into a system improvement logick.


But keep at posting ideas. I do think one of them was good.
