Special Modules for Warp and Wormhole Traversal

I would like to start creating ideas to address some of the issues I see with "required tech" and this will be the first attempt to do so. I will also be adding some of my own various tech ideas for more customization.


I had a conversation with a member of the development team quite a while ago and I had some ideas for ways to address the required Warp Drive problem. I would like to see some changes, especially since the Academy Quest forces Warp Drive as does a number of other Quests (Traitor's Reach being one).


Option 1:


  • Move Warp Drive from Baryonic Shielding to Science and Exploration Tier III Unlock
  • Move Hyperium Engine from Exploration Tier III Unlock to Autonomous Materials
  • Move Simple Anomaly Reduction (or Evolved Soils) to Baryonic Shielding
  • Move Hawking Radiation Dowser to Science and Exploration Tier V (or Tier IV) Unlock

Option 2:

  • Move Q-Field Fleet Accelerator from Low Kelvin Sciences to Advanced Non-Baryonics
  • Add "Fleet Warp Drive Capability" to the Q-Field Fleet Accelerator module, allowing for fleet warp
  • Add AM-Field Fleet Accelerator (Fleet Movement +2, 3 Anti-Matter Cost) to Low Kelvin Sciences
  • Move Titanium Colonizers from Science and Exploration Tier IV Unlock to Graviton Research
  • Move Anti-Matter Engine from Science and Exploration Tier V Unlock to Tier IV Unlock
  • Add Quadrinix Engine (Ship Evasion +8%, Movement +6, 1 Quadrinix Cost) to S & E Tier 5 Unlock
  • Add "Ship Warp Drive Capability" to the Quadrinix Engine allowing for ship warp
  • Add new module Advanced Strategic Probes (Vision Range +4, Probe Stock 3, Cooldown 2 Turns, "Reveals Wormhole Links to Vision of Fleet", 1 Quadrinix and 1 Orichalcix Cost) to Science and Exploration Tier V Unlock which can be used to "see" wormhole access points in connected star systems*

*NOTE: This would allow a fleet equipped with one of these probe modules to see any wormholes within the vision range of the fleet. This would be very useful for both exploration and hero ships. It would also be nice for any fleet to use a wormhole that is currently visible to the specialized probe's vision, allowing a fleet equipped with such a module to "hold a wormhole open" for more fleets to use by simply staying within visibility range of the wormhole access point.


Option 2 would allow specialized ships and/or fleets access to warp technology and would provide an alternative avenue for wormhole access. An icon could be added to the fleet with special warp tech or wormhole visibility tech in the same way icons are added for privateer fleets and ships and/or colonization fleets and ships. 


While on the topic of strategic resource modules, and in light of the movement suggestion for Titanium Colonizers, I have a few other ideas for special colonization modules:

  • Add Adamantian Colonizers (Vision Range +2, Movement Points +2, 1 Adamantian Cost) to Adaptive Colonies
  • Add Orichalcix Colonizers (Ship Evasion +5%, 1.5X Warp Move Speed, 1 Orichalcix Cost) to Quantum Evasion

It is also possible to add variants to some of these modules as unique exploration or quest/event rewards.


I hope this idea does not fall on deaf ears as there could be much done to improve mid and late game customization of colony ships and giving more options or non-specific tech access to warp movement could really help this game. Also, the later Science and Exploration Techs are looking quite bare these days and some of these ideas could be a solution.

Also on the topic of tech:

  • Please bring back 3D Replication Plants (Tier 3 Industry Specialization) and add it to Exa-Volt Beam Focus
  • Please bring back Finance Commission (Tier 3 Dust Specialization) and add it to Megarisk Containment
  • Please move Citizen Science (Tier 2 Science Specialization) from Ontological Rev-Eng to Dimensional Folding
  • Please bring back Global Tech Park (Tier 3 Science Specialization) and add it to Advanced Non-Baryonics
  • Please add a new Reverse Terraforming tech to Ontological Rev Engine that allows reverse order terraforming at 1.5x or 2x the industry cost of normal terraforming

Also, on engines:

  • Please change the name of Titanium Engines to Lossless Fusion Engines, an ode to ES1
  • Please change the name of Accelerated Warp Drive to Integrated Engines, an ode to ES1
  • Please add a new support module "Accelerated Warp Drive" (1.5x Warp Movement on Fleet) to N-Dimensional Topologies

Man... those ideas are far too complex to understand. i dont think you will get upvotes for this one easy because, in order to understand what you where trying to say and know if you are talking about a good thing or not, i had to open the game and look over the research tab because the names themselves simply ain't enough to know what else you are trying to talk about. 


I'd recommend you having a chat whit the devs instead of placing those ideas. But try to chat whit a good player beforehand, that knows about those things, before you attempt to chat whit them. They seem very busy currently... 


Also here is my opinion about your tech changes (the ones i understood, i dint managed to get everything you attempted to say) 


Number 1: Place bayornic shielding as a tier 3 tech and wormholes tier 5. 


But seriosuly, aren't those techs in low stages supposed to give a certain diversification in the tatics availble to play the game?  like, why would we need wormholes tier... if at that rate eveyone else already has quadrinix extra fleet movement speed and they could warp around the whole galaxy in under 10 turns whit 35 movement speed fleets? WHAT? 


Also, if you are planning to place bayornic shieldings as a tier 3 research just to be able to make academy quest more usefull... you will totally break the game. because, in lower galaxy sizes, there are about... 3 systems. PER CONSTELLATION. How the heck people are going to research enough upgrades to get out of there??? that would be a seriously game breaking issue man. i don't like it.

Try lo_fabre... or finding a player whit a ton of availble time and experience, and explains those things to him. If both of you agree on what you where attempting to say and this idea is really, definitly good because of X reason that "can't be refused" or something close to it, try contacting the devs or something. But try to find many players that agree whit you before, ok? this idea seems to complex to be simply upvoted man...

Abrasax, here is a tip: You can try to get this idea further IN THIS games2gether forum, but... you can't really just place something like:


"Place Radiation Emitter Crazy Eye into Omega Speaking Third Eye" because, srsly, those names are one of the hardest things in the UNIVERSE of ENDLESS to understand what those CRAZY devs are talking about. im pretty sure 101% of the whole gamesgether community does not understand what those names and description means even when they understand how the game works.  because, srsly, i never saw crazier and complex english scientific names in my life. im just playing for fun man, i dont want to read things albert eistein said in its philophical concept of the universe xD 


Then, can you explain, why in the world you just put those ugly names whit absolutely no sense whiteout any sort of picture to make it easier to understand what those crazy devs attempted to say by ourselves? 


Man, have some mercy. put some pictures in it or something. its literally impossible to figure out what you are attempting to say whiteout a clear sheet of what "Technology tree" you are looking it. Try making a picture of the thecnology tree and show whit ARROWS What you are attempting to change. not words. not Crazy universal conspiration of endless devs who dont care about kids and weak people minds. 


Take it easy man. those names of technology researches are too evil for you to left people to figure out what they mean by themselves. xD 


Also, here is my last tip: IF, you ever talk to a good player who knows the game and is experienced in it and he manages to agree whit you because of a logical , concisive and conclusive way, that you and him basically have few things to neglect and both of you agree it would be, definetly, a good upgrade for the game because of reason, that can hardly be rejected or has few counter statements (You want philosophy eh? :) then, if both of you agree in it (repeating it just in case) , you can place this idea here, but you will need to improve the method you are trying to explain your idea because, srsly, Have mercy upon us, poor souls. Don't give our minds to these evil names the devs forces us to see. 


Even you, player? you should know how EVIL those devs are whit those nasty littles names!!! >:(

Well, to keep it simple, I am interested in a conversation with people who know these names. A deep understanding of how the tech tree works should be a prerequisite for discussing matters related to tech tree and meta-game overhaul.I have plenty of ideas in layman's terms, but I would rather leave the more complex ones as they are.
