I know everyone asks for this option and the default answer is that you can't because of the simultaneous turns and all, BUT, I discovered on Games2gether a community that is really participative and willing to offer a lot of ideas. Can't we brainstorm together crative ways to implement hotseat in the game without changing the entire game and how it works?
As for my contribution: Hotseat is nothing more than one PC playing as two different armies right? What if there was a way to let all the IAs play at one like normal and execute all their actions, then, the first person makes his moves and when ready, hits an interface button that changes the controll to the second army without ending the turn. The second person then makes his moves and can end the turn when finished. This "controll change button" would change controll of the armies back and forth so the players can react to one another in case they decide to battle between thenselves and when both ran out of options they could agree to end the turn.
For it to work, hotseat would be offline only and without any kind of reaction timer, as the players will be next to each other, they could agree thenselves on how to battle, switch controll, etc, without the game rushing then (maybe timers could be optional).
I think it would be a offline mode to play with friends/family and some strategic notions like "he can see my map!", "he will know my strategy!" and whatever would not matter that much, it will be just for fun.
I guess that's it, all the game needs to think is that its a "player" with "two races" and a way to switch controll between then, everything else on the turn can happen in real time like it does, its not like the IA will get bored if a turn takes twice as long.
Don't know if someone already suggested this but heres my thoughts! Thanks.
