Add the ability to upgrade ships received from quests or bought from the marketplace. At least change their engines so they aren't useless as the game progresses.
I like this idea a lot, at the moment I don't use mercenary ships because I can't change their modules :(
I also think that we should be able to change/retrofit ships from other factions once we capture them, this way I think it would makes boarding parties at lot more interesting.
Just imagine: capturing a huge carrier from your enemy, retrofitting it with a powerful weapon module you have unlock and then strike back at them with their own ship !!
Just tried the mod. It adds all the designs so you can build them but the second you go into combat the game crashes. It doesn't let you upgrade the ones you get for free or from the marketplace. Not the same as a fully functional feature.
Also in a lore rich game like this, mods which have no lore/story elements really kill it for me. If the mods added a new faction, even one from another IP, and integrated them into the game well with lore elements intact then I think I could get into it.
